What’s the Harm With a Little Bit More Pollution?

Humanity does things that are bad out of self interest. To all of the world, organizations and singularities work on bettering their opportunities, which includes lifestyle. In this lifestyle, we choose to do "bad" things knowingly, because being would be more troublesome than to not be.

Pollution, for example, creates a world where people are exposed to higher risk of contracting a stroke, aggravated asthma, lower respiratory infections, and numerous other diseases, as told by the European Environment Agency. But why do we continue on this problem even if it hurts us and everyone around us? Because it's more convenient to continue than to halt all operations that increase pollution. After all, how else would we get the water bottles that supply clean water to us, but in return soil the earth further.

To be a consumer is to contribute to pollution. Now, I'm not saying to completely cut off your spending, as the essentials to live are needed, but to give into corporations and their usage of factories to produce these essentials shows that consumers help the issue of pollution, and there is no way to combat it other than to roam as a ghost.

Pollution is a topic that is often taken in a drastic manner, but what we really need to do, as humanity, is to educate ourselves on the topic and then take actions based on which ones are the most effective. As covered in class, a common reason why pollution was able to grow so large is because humanity is unaware, but there are so many resources readily available to our disposal.

  1. I loved your line about the water bringing us clean water that we then use to soil the water! It’s a vicious cycle and I liked how you worded it. Maybe detail what “effective actions” entail so they seem more plausible to the reader, or offer resources to keep readers informed. The photo really helped show the gravity of the situation and how it’s real, not just a word thrown around by politicians. Overall great job!
